Wow, has it been over a year?  Even though I haven't posted, it has been nice keeping up with everyone.

I stay on Myspace and Facebook lately, that's where my young people are, so that's where I am at.

Just to update everyone.  The Newsome's are doing well.  Algerome II turned 18 in December and will graduate from High School in June.  He is now a proud owner of a  Red Chevy Cavalier.  Chelsea turned 16 a few months ago, she is still very much into Cheerleading and now has her first boyfriend.  Brandyn turned 12 in January and is just doing great in school and he really loves being on the soccer team.

Al and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in January.  We went on a seven day Carribean Cruise, the first time I have ever been out of the Country.  It was a wonderful experience.  We sailed to Labadee Haiti, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Mexico.  The cruise experience is one that I will never forget.

I'm sure I'll see most of you in June at the Congress.  My session is having a get together - that will be nice to catch up with everyone.  Take care All!!!!!    Blessings!

I can finally sit for a few minutes to update.  Things have been a little hectic - its been crazy trying to get things completed for camp when I'm never in the office, with weekend camps and traveling and school stuff - time just slips away.

If we were still in KT we would be at camp already, our orientation for NCV starts next week, at least that has given me a little more time to get things together - I usually have everything completed weeks before camp starts but for some reason this year everything has been in slow mode - so frustrating!!!

I'm really excited about camp this summer though.  We have a great theme and all the pieces to that have came together so well.  About half our staff will be first timers this year - but that's OK - we're new too, so I'm really happy about that, especially in the Dining Room, I can get them trained the way that I want things to work and hopefully I'll keep the same girls for the next couple of summers while we are here.  We have our Health Dept. inspection on monday - my first to actually go through (food serv. director did it in KT) one of my cooks has been getting the kitchen set and hopefully everything will go well.

The kids are doing great - 9 more days of school left - they are so ready.  Brandyn is now an official "Safety Patrol" - he has been in training for two weeks and he receives his official badge and sash next week - so cute!!!

Well, I need to get to the office.  Take care everyone and have a great summer!

I owe my mother for my wisdom

Here is a funny thing I found on one of my friends blog:

1.  My  mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.
"If  you're going to kill each other, do it outside.  I just finished  cleaning."

2.  My  mother taught me RELIGION.
"You  better pray that will come out of the carpet."

3.  My  mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
"If  you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"

4.  My  mother taught me LOGIC.
"Because I said so, that's why."

5.  My  mother taught me MORE LOGIC.
"If  you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."

6.  My  mother taught me FORESIGHT.

"Make  sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an  accident."

7.  My  mother taught me IRONY.
"Keep  crying,  and I'll give you something to cry about."

8.  My  mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS.
"Shut  your mouth and eat your supper."

9.  My  mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM.
"Will  you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"

10.  My  mother taught me about STAMINA.
"You'll  sit there until all that spinach is  gone."

11.  My  mother taught me about WEATHER.
"This  room of yours looks as if a tornado went through  it."

12.  My  mother taught me about HYPOCRISY.
"If  I told you once, I've told you a million times.  Don't  exaggerate!"

13.  My  mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE.
"I  brought you into this world, and I can take you out."

14.  My  mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.
"Stop acting like your  father!"

15.  My  mother taught me about ENVY.
"There  are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."

16.  My  mother taught me about ANTICIPATION.
"Just  wait until we get home."

17.  My  mother taught me about RECEIVING.
"You  are going to get it when you get  home!"

18.  My  mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE.

"If  you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to get stuck that way."

19.  My  mother taught me ESP.
"Put  your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are  cold?"

20.  My  mother taught me HUMOR.
"When  that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to  me."

21.  My  mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT.
"If  you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow  up."

22.  My  mother taught me GENETICS.
"You're  just like your father."

23.  My  mother taught me about my ROOTS.
"Shut  that door behind you.  Do you think you were born in a  barn?"

24.  My  mother taught me WISDOM.
"When  you get to be my age, you'll understand."

25.  My mother taught me about JUSTICE.
"One day you'll have kids, and  I hope they turn out just like  you”

HAVE A HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!

Things That I Am Thankful For:

1-  I completed my first USDA Application for our summer camp.  In KT, I didn't have to worry about such forms, we were blessed with a great secretary who took care of it.  The application part wasn't so bad and I'm glad that's out of the way.

2-  We have a camp theme for the summer - "The Incredible Race".  We got it from one of the VBS themes and with the "Cars" Movie from Disney coming out and with auto racing being such a BIG thing in this area - its going to be great.  I found some great videos at the christian bookstore called "Auto B Good" that I'm going to develop into the Bible Class materials for the young kids and we will be using "The Purpose Driven Life" for our Staff Bible Study.  We're even getting some peddle cars for the kids to drive during recreation - it's going to be soooo much fun.  I just love camp!!!!

3 - My husband.  That little stinker gave me an easter basket on Sunday.  We have never did that before, its usually for the kids.  But here he goes and brings me one with some clinique stuff, dove dark chocolate (my favorite) and a beautiful eternity necklace. He's so sweet!!!

4 - Youth in my division.  I have had so many of them send me notes, emails, xanga props to encourage me during my dads illness and not being at the entire Youth Councils.  Thanks guys/gals for caring - I love you all!!!!   (I'm praying for all of you during your 40 day revolution, been reading some of your xangas/myspace and what your doing and giving up - know of our support!)

I was sitting in the chapel wednesday while my kids were in band practice and the last song that they rehearsed was "Near to the Heart of God" - wow, I hadn't heard it in so long and the tears came, as I looked at the words in the songbook and listened to the arrangement.  Sometimes we just get soooo busy and sooooo stressed about way too many things but:

There is a place of quiet rest near to the heart of God.

A Place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.

Oh, Jesus blest redeemer, sent from the heart of God.

Hold us, who wait before thee, near to the heart of God.

Home Sweet Home!

Just got back from a quick trip to Georgia.

My dad is now home from the hospital and doing well. (Praise God and thanks so much for your prayers and thoughtful comments and cards)

We also spent two days in Atlanta, took the kids to opening day at Turner Field - Braves vs Phillies - great game.  The next day we went to the new Georgia Aquarium - Brandyn loved every inch of the place.  It's so good to get away, but the driving is the pits and I couldn't wait to get home, the kiddos are still on spring break so we have a few days to just rest and do some more local sights.

Have A Wonderful Easter!
